Since we moved into this house the middle of January, the kids have been sick CONSTANTLY. Well, last night was another night spent in the ER with Paizlei. Last Monday I took her into the doctor because she had been pulling at her ear and had been extremely fussy. At the doctor we found out she had an ear infection. Another ear infection...another infection in general = more antibiotics. Antibiotics and Paizlei just don't mix well with each other. My poor little girl gets horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE diarrhea and she won't eat anything solid. Yesterday she had the diarrhea so bad...12 diapers in 2 hours BAD! After her 12th diaper, Zane and I decided she needed to go to the ER because her blood may be acidic from the antibiotics. The acidic blood has been very common with Paizlei anytime she is on antibiotics and/or has diarrhea. We didn't find anything out in the ER. It was basically a waste of 3.5 hours and a waste of the $175 co-pay. The ER doctor was pre-occupied with something that was more important than Paizlei. He came in, did a 2 second check on her, ordered blood work that needed to be done twice because the lab tech didn't process the first set of labs fast enough so the blood had started to clot. 3 sticks there. They wanted to get a urine sample by a Wee Bag...not good with Paizeli. Her little bottom was so red, dry and chapped from all the diarrhea diapers, the Wee Bag wouldn't stick. 2 Wee Bags, no urine sample. They also wanted to get a stool sample. We couldn't get that either. Instead of putting Suran Wrap on her diaper, they just expected to scrape the pooh out of the diaper. When it is so stringy, and so watery, that it just soaks into the diaper, SORRY ER folks, you won't get the sample. 6 more diapers later, no stool sample. After sitting there until 12:30am, the nurse comes in and tells me they are just going to send us home. No word on her blood work. No word on the X-Ray...A BIG FAT NOTHING.
After coming home and going to bed so mad at the ER doctor, this morning I called and scheduled an appointment with our family doctor. Her ear infection is better so stop the antibiotics (not yet 10 days, but okay). Dr. Judy is sending Paizlei to an ENT to get tubes put in her ears. YAY!!!!! I have only been trying to get tubes since she was 6 months old...10 months later, we succeed in our quest. I am trying to get her appointment with the ENT at Primary's the same day I have to take her up to the Gastroenterologist at Primary's. Hopefully we will be able to kill 2 birds with one stone that day.
Now, back to the house thing. We have all been so sick, the kids more than Zane and I, since we moved in the middle of January. While we were at the doctor today, he was looking at both Hunter and Paizlei's records and saw just how many times I have taken them to the ER, how many hospital stays and how many doctor visits. WAY TOO MANY for his liking. So he suggested we needed to have our house tested for contaminants since the house is so old. Now, we are waiting for the Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) to call and schedule the appointment and to find out how much that is going to cost. Zane has called our landlord to set up an appointment with them to see if they will pay for the testing. Unfortunately, if they won't pay for the testing, we will have to move. I really don't want to move again, but I have to think about what is best for my kids. So here's to another hurdle to surpass. Wish us the BEST OF LUCK!!!!

Ugggh! Sorry you are having such a rough time! Hope things turn around fast.
I can't even believe that about your house. I'm so interested in the results, if you are able to get them! I know you don't want to have to move again!!! That's such an upheaval!
If it's not one thing it's another. Good Luck!!!!
