And I thought last years Easter was special! Not just because of Easter itself. This year was a pretty close 2nd to last year.
This year, we had a very busy and very fun Easter Weekend! On Friday night, we invited Zane's mom and step-dad over for dinner and to frost and decorate Easter cookies with the kids. We kept telling Hunter that Grandma and Grandpa Black were going to come over for dinner on Friday and he was so excited. Even though we had went to visit them earlier in the day, he still couldn't wait for them to come over. (Probably because Grandma and Grandpa gave him a chicken to raise!) Hunter had an absolute ball decorating cookies with Grandma! I still have cookie sprinkles ALL over my floor. I can't seem to vacuum them all up (I have HORRIBLE kitchen carpet). When he woke up on Saturday, he asked to frost MORE Easter cookies. He is so cute! I love him so much! Paizlei even had a fun time decorating the cookies. She kept reaching for the knives. It was so stinkin' cute!
On Saturday, we woke up bright and early to make it to the 8am FREEEEEEZING COLD Easter Egg Hunt in Gunnison. Saying it was FREEEEEEEZING COLD is putting it very politely. I don't know if it was because it was so cold or what, but there was hardly anyone there. Last year, it was packed. When the shot went off to go, Hunter and I ran as fast as we could to the back of the field, because everyone stays up front. As we were running back there, Hunter noticed bottles of bubbles on the grass. He stopped to pick up everyone that he could see or he would run away from me to get the bubbles. He ended up with 4 bottles of bubbles. His Easter basket was overflowing with candy, pencils, bubbles, otter pops, and 6 plastic eggs with vouchers from local businesses. Paizlei ended up with one bottle of bubbles, 2 otter pops, 2 plastic eggs and lots of candy. They both did very well for it being so stinkin' cold outside. Not 2 minutes after we got in the car, it started to snow. You gotta LOVE spring time in Utah!
Once the kids went down for their naps, we got their Easter baskets and filled them with their goodies from the Easter Bunny. We did the Easter Bunny on Saturday because Zane had to work Sunday and he wanted to be home to watch the kids. When Hunter woke up, he couldn't figure out what was going on. It was so cute and so funny! Once he figured out that it was his and that he could play with it, he was so excited! The Easter Bunny brought Hunter some Moon Sand with a tractor, a "tractor guy", a brick mold and a shovel. He also got some frogs, sidewalk chalk, another bucket of Moon Sand and an M&M candy toy thing. Paizlei was just as cute when she got up. Unlike Hunter, Paizlei jumped right up there and was checking out her toys. She was so cute! She kept laughing and looking at Zane and I with a BIG grin on her face and pointing at the toys. Paizlei got a purple tutu with rose petals in the tutu, fairy wings, flower clippies, some rubber duckies, a stuffed dog and an M&M candy toy thing.
On Easter, Hunter and Paizlei played while I watched the two Sunday sessions of General Conference. I really needed to hear some of the talks and I can't wait for them to come out in the Ensign so I can read them again. As I was watching the morning sessions, I couldn't help but think of what a better weekend to have conference; Easter weekend. What a better way to worship Christ and celebrate his resurrection.
Sunday evening, my mom and dad came down for dinner and for our little families annual Easter Egg Hunt. We had a great visit with my mom and dad and a great dinner, even though the power went out (gotta love bad weather in Sanpete County!). We did an Easter Egg hunt last year and filled some eggs with candy and some with money. Both Hunter and my nephew Jacob LOVED it last year, so I thought we would do it again this year. It was a hit! Hunter had so much fun running all over the lawn, picking up the plastic eggs. He was so cute to watch. When he missed a couple, I told him about it. He told me "Paiz mama, Paiz!" He was saving some for Paizlei! He is such a sweet little boy.
We did color Easter Eggs, but that was a quick fast thing on Thursday night and we had some issues with eggs that didn't hard boil, even though they were in the hot boiling water for 15 minutes.
All in all, we had a wonderful Easter! We even got two new babies in the family! Coral Nellie Young was born on March 31 to my brother Kyle and his adorable wife Corinne! Coral is GORGEOUS!!! I hope that I am able to make it out to Fallon, NV for her blessing. Kendall J Black was born on April 2 to Zane's step-brother Jared and his wife Jenni. He is such a cute little boy!
CONGRATULATIONS TO KYLE AND CORINNE!
CONGRATULATIONS TO JARED AND JENNI!
