May Day

On Friday May 21st, I got to watch my sweet little Hunter's first May Day.  When I picked him up from school on Wednesday, his teacher, Mrs. Mellor, informed me that Hunter really doesn't participate in the preschooler's dance...he either lays on the floor or he runs around...that's my Hunter for ya!  Because of what Mrs. Mellor said, I kept going back and forth on whether or not I was going to take him and let him "participate" as much as he will.  After talking to my mom, I decided not to have him participate...that decision was based on the fact that my dad was still in the hospital and we were thinking there was a possibility they would let him come home that day (another story) so she wasn't going to come down.  Then around 9pm Thursday night, my mom called and said she was going to come down because they weren't going to send my dad home.  So, I decided to let Hunter "participate" in the May Day program.  I was so excited because this was his first May Day program!!!  And, I could watch my cute nephew Kyler, who lives with his dad here in Gunnison.

Upon arriving to the Gunnison Valley High School, we found our seats and then I took Hunter to find his teachers and classmates.  The first routine was the ever famous May Pole.  Once they were done, it was my little Hunter's turn.  All the TA's and teachers led the kids out and Hunter was almost right in front of me...GREAT JOB of picking out the seats!  As they were getting ready to start, I walked down to the bottom of the bleachers so I could get better pictures of him.  BIG MISTAKE!!!!  Hunter saw me and walked over to me.  End of program for Hunter!  He wouldn't go back out on the floor.  Oh well, he is still only 3, still busy, still my little Hunter.

I have video of Hunter's adorable departure from the floor, but I can't figure out how to add it to this post.  SOOO, if anyone knows how to, please leave a message and I will do another post with the video.  For now, the two best pictures will have to do.

Right after they came out on the floor.  He was looking for his mama!

Right before they were getting ready to start their dance.

Right after the dance started.  He was trying to get the sunglasses out, then he spotted his mama and made his departure.  Isn't he so cute?

It was really fun to go and watch May Day even if Hunter didn't participate.  No offense to all the wonderful teachers and TA's that helped with the May Day program at Gunnison Valley Elementary, but I still like Ephraim Elementary's May Day program so much better.  They have a different theme each year, sing a bunch of super cute songs, and the dances are choreographed by local dancers.  And it runs very smooth.  There is a lot of great talent here in Gunnison, I wish the elementary school would utilize it and change up their May Day program.  Just sayin'...

I'm glad you left a comment on my blog. I also love hearing of others people's stories who spent time in the NICU and see how their kids are doing. You are more than welcome to follow my blog, and I will probably follow your blog as well. Both of your kids are adorable. I hope things continue to work out for the best for you and your family!
