Bad Dreams

I am in need of a little help...or suggestions...anything.  My sweet little 3 year old Hunter has been waking up several times a night screaming/crying hysterically.  The first couple of times in happened, he scared me so bad, I ran up the stairs two at a time to get to him.  Every time he wakes up, it is the same thing...

Mommy:  What's wrong honey?

Hunter:  Me scared mama.

Mommy:  Did you have another bad dream?

Hunter:  Yeah! (crying hysterically)

Mommy:  Nothing is going to get you or hurt you, Hunter.  Can you tell me what your bad dream was about?

Hunter:  No mama.  Me not talk about it.

So, I lay down with him for 30 minutes or until he has calmed down.  It feels like I just get back to sleep, and it starts all over again.

Is it normal for a 3 year old to have bad dreams?  I don't let him watch bad things on TV...bad as in nothing that he can't understand.  He has a TV limit of 2 hours a day and I monitor what he watches...Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Chuggington, Jungle Junction and Imagination Movers...and on occasion, My Friends Tigger and Pooh.  So, I don't really think it has anything to do with what he sees on TV.  At the same time, I am clueless as to what is causing him to have several bad dreams every night.  PLEASE HELP!!!

It's normal Hula Marie, things are becoming more real to them now - even things that aren't real like monsters. Check out babycenter.com, they have some information on there.

It is normal. Reassure him and snuggle with him so he knows it is alright. The nightmares will eventually go away. Love you all.
