Two years ago today, I met you for the first time. Mommy, Daddy and countless grandma's, grandpa's, great-grandparents, aunts & uncles and cousins were worried sick about what was going to come about, because you were born two months premature. We called you our "teeny tiny Princess" because you were only 4 pound. Up until a couple of hours before you were born, we didn't know for sure if you were a girl, because you were such a wiggle worm and wouldn't hold still through the ultrasound. When you cam out, you were kicking a screaming, a strong teeny tiny baby you were. You were immediately put on cPAP air, which you were on for a measly 6 hours. You also struggled with eating, but once you caught on, you were, and still are, my champion eater. You had a small brain hemorrhage, which we didn't find out about until you were almost a week old. That's what all the NICU doctors were worried about with you. After several priesthood blessings and LOTS of love and prayers, the brain hemorrhage cleared itself up. We were told by all the wonderful and amazing NICU staff not to expect you to come home until you were at least 37 weeks post gestation. Miraculously, you came home one week earlier than the NICU staff expected. You came home at 36 weeks post gestation and 23 days old. You weighed in at a whopping 5 pounds 5 ounces. Before Daddy and BIG brother Hunter could see you, I took you to our doctor here in Gunnison to weigh you so they had an accurate weight according to their scales. Nurse Melissa was all googlie over you, as were all of our other favorite staff at our doctor's office. When we finally arrived at home, Daddy and Hunter were so excited to see you! They both just loved on you for hours. I went up with an empty car, and came home with a over-filled car. I came home with 4 brown paper bags packed full of breast milk for you, along with 3 Styrofoam coolers packed full of breast milk. As well as countless blankets, clothing, gifts, diapers, stockings full of Christmas gifts for you, treats for the family, and all the fun (or not so much fun) wires and gadgets that were attached to you for 23 long and agonizing days.
You are as strong today, as you were at 7:53pm 2 years ago. You are still our little Princess! You may have only been 4 pounds when you were born, but today, you are tipping the scales at 30 pounds!!! You are very strong-willed and you don't like it when you don't get your own way. You love your puppy, which Daddy got you last year for Valentine's Day. You love your baby dolls and LOVE to play cars with Hunter!!! You are all girl! You love shoes, dresses, and clothes in general. You change your clothes several times a day. You walk around the house in whose ever shoes you can get your little feet into. You are talking up a storm, your vocabulary amazes me every day. You LOVE to use BIG words such as , "digussing" aka disgusting, "amuance" aka ambulance, "heodopoo" aka helicopter. You are super smart and can count when we walk up and down the stairs. You know all your body parts, with eyes and noses being your obsession. Your favorite person is Mommy, but you will cry for Daddy when he isn't home. Your best friend is Hunter and "keecat" aka kitty cat. You are still our champion eater and eat EVERYTHING in sight. You love to color with "cweeyons" aka crayons, and you like to have your pictures hung up on the fridge. You, miss Paizlei Mae, are our little miracle. You bring so much joy and happiness to our little family. Mommy, Daddy and Hunter love you, beyond words!!!
Happy 2nd Birthday, Paizlei!!!
