On December 20-21, a massive snow storm hit most of Utah.  Our beloved St. George was under the watchful eyes of the National Weather Service and the flood prevention teams that were established after the horrific floods back in 2005.  While our St. George was getting rained poured on, the rest of the state was getting hammered with snow.  In the 4 years I have lived in Gunnison, I have NEVER seen it get hit as bad as it did that storm.  In less than 24 hours, we had over a foot of snow, AND it was still snowing.  Not thinking twice about it, we went to bed on Monday night with our normal Tuesday morning, school morning routine in mind.  I got up, went downstairs, woke Hunter up.  Got him dressed, fed, hair done, teeth brushed, medication given, and the thought struck me, "there is going to be too much snow for the school buses to be out.".  So, I turned on the local radio station and listened for a few minutes while Zane was out shoveling the walks, and it came..."Schools in the South Sanpete School District are closed.  Those cities include, Ephraim, Manti and Gunnison schools."  Hunter got his first SNOW DAY!!!!  The first snow day I have ever witnessed in my 34 years.  It continued to snow pretty much through Tuesday as well.

Once the snow FINALLY stopped, Hunter and I went outside with a yard stick, corny, I know, and measured the snow in our front yard.  In the flattest spot with no trees, we measured over 16 inches of snow!!!  Zane was out shoveling the walks, AGAIN, when Hunter and I went outside.  I decided to come in and get Paizlei bundled up and go out and have fun in the snow!!!  And FUN is what we had.  Zane thought I was nuts because I wanted to teach our kids how to make snow angels..."You are going to be soaking wet!".  But, I still did it.  Hunter thought it was so fun!  He and Paiz would be playing, and he would randomly fall back in the snow and make a snow angel, then Paiz would follow him.  It was hilarious!!!

Earlier on Monday, we had to run up to Ephraim for something at WalMart.  While I was getting Paizlei out of the car, Zane was holding Hunter and teaching him to tip his head back and stick his tongue out to catch the snow.  While we were outside on Tuesday afternoon, he was having so much fun doing that.  Paizlei would follow what he was doing.  She couldn't quite figure out why things kept falling on her face, or in her eyes.  It was a crack up to watch her.

After about 45 minutes of being outside, Paizlei and I came back in, because she has been struggling with ruptured ear drums the last couple of months, and I didn't want to jinx myself and have her go through it again.  Zane decided it would be fun to teach Hunter how to make a snowman.  The only thing was, Zane couldn't remember how to pack the snow to make a simple snowball.  So, he improvised.  He went and got an empty bucket and made the most interesting creative snowman.  Hunter was so excited with it!!!!  He kept telling me, "me and Dada made it!".

10 days later, we still have TONS of snow.  It snowed yesterday, last night and has been snowing off and on today and tonight.  I'm sure before winter is over, we will have plenty more snow storms, and more FUN in the snow!!!!
