3rd Time

Zane goes in for his Sgt. interview on Tuesday, March 8th.  Here's to hoping (and lots of fingers crossed and prayers) he gets the job!!!  Hopefully, with a different Sheriff, among other things, the 3rd time's the charm!!!  It's going to be tough call, because EVERYONE who isn't a Sgt, put in for it.  EEEK!!!

An update on Zane's BIG INTERVIEW....

I guess he didn't have what the Sheriff was looking for.

Zane was a little bummed because instead of offering the job

 to a deputy that dresses crisp and in full uniform,

the job was offered to someone who wears house slippers,

instead of dress boots

and the guy with the bad attitude about everything.

Oh well, there is always next time.

Good job Babe!

We are SOOOOO incredibly proud of you!

And the Sheriff doesn't know what he is missing

by not offering you the job.

On a side note, Zane told me he is checking

Washington and Iron County job board every couple of days.

WAHOO!!!!

Maybe we will be back down in St. George

before too long.

He is looking at jobs for Purgatory or road patrol.

Happy New Year's

Wow, what a year 2009 has been. We definitely had our fair share of challenges in 2009, but those challenges brought Zane and I closer than we have ever been as a married couple and brought our family closer together. We learned first hand the meaning of "Families Are Forever" after witnessing all the ups and downs, heartaches and joyous moments of having a child in the NICU and the blessed moments of knowing we have a happy healthy little boy at home. We learned a lot about patience, especially with two kids, one of which is a VERY VERY VERY active little boy that doesn't stop to sleep half the time. With patience, we also learned, you learn something new about it every day because every day is new and different.

In 2009, we learned the true meaning of making sure we are healthy. I have had my fair share of hospital stays with my cardiac and chest pains. After several months of being hospitalized for the pain, we were very grateful for our wonderful doctor who referred me to Dr George, a wonderful pain specialist who diagnosed me with Tietze's Disease (click here to read more about it) in the first visit. I am currently getting injections in my chest every 4 weeks, to help with the pain. The last time I had injections was the week of Thanksgiving, and I can tell you right now, they really do work. I am really feeling the pain coming back and it has been longer than 4 weeks. We are truly grateful to Dr. George, for his knowledge in medicine and his ability to help heal this horrible, unbearable pain. Our normal doctor also referred me to see Dr. Bingham, a cardiologist, who is absolutely amazing. Dr. Bingham ran several tests on my heart and determined that my heart is healthy, other than a slight murmer.

In 2009, we also learned how to cope with and help a child with asthma. Sweet little Hunter has such a hard time in the winter when with his asthma. Towards the end of the winter of 2008, our insurance bought us a nebulizer to help us control Hunter's asthma, and let me tell you, it has been a life saver (and a money saver when it comes to not having to take him to the ER every day for breathing treatments). In the winter, we have to give him 4 treatments of Albuteral and 2 treatments of Pulmocort on daily. Some days he requires more and some days he requires less. He is such a smartie pants and has gotten to the point where he knows that he can't breathe and knows the treatments make a HUGE difference and tells us he needs a breathing treatment or he will bring the nebulizer to Zane or I to give him a treatment.

In 2009, we learned what it is like for Zane to have a job that is stable even in the horrible economy. I know this is a bad way to look at it, but with the bad economy, people are desperate and will do whatever it takes, even if it means breaking the law and end up in jail and that means job security for Zane.

Cadet Zane Vincent

That's right....Zane is a Cadet! Zane was offered and accepted a job with Sanpete County in their new jail. He started school on September 8th in Sandy at the Utah Corrections Academy to become POST certified in corrections. He leaves Hunter and I on Sunday early evening and doesn't come home until Thursday night. All the while, the county is not only paying for his schooling, but the are paying his wages and also excellent benefits! Yes, just in time for the baby to get here! Anyway, this last week was like mid-term for him. His first test was Defensive Tactics which he got 149/149 and a "pass"(which was more important than the 149). His second test was PT which he passed as well and improved on his run, sit-ups and push-ups (he is working to get up to the 90th percentile so he can get an award at graduation). His 3rd and final test was the written which he got 85! He is good to go through the next block. He has 4 more weeks left up in Sandy, then he is back down here for Firearms training at CUCF (the prison) and up in Manti, for 4 weeks and then back up to Sandy for his final week! He is set to graduate on December 11! It will be so awesome to have him back down here! Hunter and I miss him so much while he is gone! But, Hunter and I are SOOOO proud of Zane for his dedication and hard work! We love you so much daddy!

The BIG Layoff

The Monday after Easter Zane's bosses came to the site where Zane was working. It was about 5:15pm and they talked to each individual and told them they weren't needed any more! The week before that, Zane had talked to his boss and asked him if his job was secure. Of course he was told "yeah, you don't have anything to worry about." It was a BIG shock to both of us when he got laid off! The good news is, we are probably going to be moving closer to home in August! The bad news is August is still like 4 months away! Zane was able to find a job that very week at Target on their Flow Team. He goes in at 4am and gets home around 1pm. I also work at Target, mainly to give me that much needed "me time" that mommies really need! It's been really hard for us to make ends meet. It's almost been a month and we are still hanging in there! Not having money for gas to travel home has upset some people and for that we are very sorry. Most people don't realize just how expensive it is to live in St. George and every little penny we have right now has to go to bills, gas and groceries. Together, we make 1/4 of what Zane was making at Desert Hills. It has been really tight, but we are hanging in there! We always tell each other that if we have faith, pay our tithing, say our prayers and live righteously, the Lord will bless us and help us make it through to August!
