Chores for Grandma & Grandpa Black

Over Labor Day weekend, Zane's Mom and step-Dad asked me and the kids to take care of their horses and chickens while they went camping.  When I told Hunter and Paizlei we get to go feed and water Grandma & Grandpa's horses and chickens, Hunter was ecstatic!  He wanted to leave "right now" to go take care of them, not understanding it wasn't for another day before we got to go take care of them.

The reason for Hunter's excitement, he LOVES Grandpa's horses.  Grandpa has a mule named Tia, whom Hunter has made his claim on.  Every time...well almost every time, we go to their house, Hunter goes out to feed them, pet them and to visit with them.  He usually goes straight to Tia and starts talking to her.  It's the cutest.  While Grandma and Grandpa were gone, Hunter was no different, ran straight to Tia.

Hunter also really likes to get the eggs from the chickens.  While he was looking for the eggs, he walked around the chicken house and found a sick chicken.  He proclaimed, "THAT CHICKEN DEAD, MOM!  IT DEAD!".  It wasn't dead, however, it wasn't far off from being dead either.  We couldn't find the eggs for the kids to get.  However, the chicken died...on my watch.  I felt horrible...I know it's just a darn chicken, but it still happened while I was supposed to be taking care of them.  I think Grandma & Grandpa got a good laugh when I left a message of Grandma's voice mail in hysterics.

This is Sky, one of Grandpa's horses.  It amazes me my two little kids are not afraid of horses, because I am.  I had a bad experience when I was about 9 or 10 and was bucked off a horse...not to mention, they are massive.

They were so excited to go get the eggs from the chicken...Paizlei was until she saw the blow flowers.  She had to stop and pick one.  Funny little girl!
