3 Blue Ribbons and my Photography Business

If you remember several posts back, I submitted some of my photos in the the Sanpete County Fair.  After dropping the photos off in Manti the Monday before the fair, I was SO anxious to see how my work would do.  I was so excited when I went to look at them on Wednesday, and found that all 3 photos got blue ribbons!  It was so exciting for me to see the blue ribbons.  Not only did I get 3 blue ribbons, I received $3 for each photo.  Not very much, but it's a start.  And in the ever growing, ever changing photography industry, its a small pat on the back for me.

Speaking of the photography industry, my business is starting to get busier.  I'm so excited about it!  I was approached by a gentleman with the local newspaper this week.  He asked me if I would be interested in going to local events and submitting my photos from the event for the newspaper.  I couldn't believe he was asking me.  I stood there for a moment, not quite sure what to say.  Of course, once I came back to reality, I told him I would love to.  Also, I was asked to set up a photo booth/station at a local event going on in Gunnison in October.  The Gunnison Businessman's Association is putting together a spook alley on the west side of the river walk.  I'm so excited, because I get to have my own little "set" of sorts to take photos of families and kids going to the spook alley.  It's going to be so much fun.

I know, I'm a complete DORK for taking these photos of my photos with their blue ribbons, score card and $$$.  However, I was so excited I won, I had to do it, so here you go.

My sweet baby girl!  LOVE HER!  Love this shot of her!  It was taken the week prior on a little day trip we took up the mountains.

My sweet boy!  LOVE HIM!  Love this shot of him.  I was really worried about this shot, because in the photo, his chin is really pixelated...it looked horrible.  And I didn't recognize it, until after I had submitted it.  Obviously, I had nothing to worry about, because the judges didn't recognize it.

This is one of my very first family shoots I did.  And, this is one of my favorite pro shots so far.  This is the family of one of my dear friends.

My score cards and my winnings!

Thank you Whit! It's a lot of fun. Once you learn all the dials and function on a DSLR, you can have so much fun with....especially when you can have so many different options in lenses.
