Right before the doctor came in.
My poor baby girl...Saturday, I had to work in Ephraim selling and promoting my books, so I had my Mom and Dad (mostly my Mom...) watch my kids. About an hour after I dropped her off, my Dad came down to the park where I had my booth set up and told me Paizlei had tipped a chair over and split her lip and that my Mom thought she needed stitches. He also said my Mom had tried to call me a couple times. Obviously, I didn't hear my phone ring. I called my supervisor, Jill, her totally sweet Mom came down to the booth while I picked up a VERY unhappy, hurt and crying little girl from my Mom and Dad's. Her poor little lip was HUGE. I buckled her in her seat and to Gunnison we went...with a stop in Manti for Zane to see if he thought it needed stitches before I made the 20 minute ride to Gunnison to the hospital. I called the hospital before hand to find out if I needed to call our dentist to have the inside of her mouth and teeth checked and to make sure it wasn't too late to have stitches (you have to get them within 12 hours). Anyway, after making the stop at the Sheriff's Office in Manti, and home to give her some Motrin before we went to the hospital (we live a block away), we pull up and Paizlei gets all excited because she thinks she is there to see the "coppoo" (helicopter)! The doctor came in, looked at her lip, cleaned it really good and said it wasn't really deep, but it was jagged. He said it would "look better" if it had stitches in it. It took me and two nurses to hold Paizlei down while the doctor cleaned it really good again, numbed it. The numbing hurt Paizlei so bad, she was screaming, I was in tears. Myself, two nurses, a really good doctor, lots of tears by Paizeli and I, and lots of holding a VERY MAD, VERY UPSET little girl down and 3 stitches later, we were done and out the door.

Right after she was done getting the stitches. Poor little girl, you can see her tears.

Did you think a lip could get THAT fat...especially a baby's lip? I certainly didn't!
On a funny note...when I went to pick Paizlei up to take her to the hospital, Hunter walked up to me and told me he was not going, he wanted to "day and have bun with gamma and gampa...me not go with you Momma!". He went into my Mom's kitchen where the diaper bag was, got 2 diapers, the wipes, Paizlei's cuppie and the milk and pushed me out the door. Funny boy, he had a BALL with gamma and gampa!!!
Tonight, Paizlei is sound asleep and she is, amazingly, leaving the "little whiskers", as the doctor called them, alone. She still has quite the fat lip, but it has gone done considerably. The bruising, well, that's just another story. Both the inside and the outside of her mouth look horrible. I will say, Paizlei is one tough little girl! I am so proud of her for being such a big girl today and going right back to being Paizlei after she was all done. I love you baby girl!!!
