Ward Halloween Party

Last night was our ward Halloween Party.  It was So. Much. Fun!!!  Hunter had a blast!  They kicked it off with a soup and bread bar, which was so perfect for the yucky, rainy, muddy mess it was outside all day and most of all night last night.  They also had a bunch of games for the kids to play.  Hunter had so much fun at the fishing game, the bounce game and the ring toss game.  He was so funny with the ring toss, instead of tossing the rings and trying to make them on the witches hats, he walked right up to the hats and put the ring around the hats.  It was so funny!  He is a smart boy to know the idea of the game is to get the ring around the hat...we will work on that one for next year.  They also had a little Halloween costume parade and the kids got to go trick-or-treating.  The best part about the evening...Zane made an appearance!  I didn't even know he was there until my neighbor pointed him out.  He was talking to a gentleman who works with Zane, but in Central Control.  He told Zane he was proud of him for coming "dressed up in a costume"!  Hunter was so excited to see his Dad there!!!  And I was proud of him for coming...I didn't think he would.

For the last month, Zane and I have been asking Hunter what he wants to be for Halloween.  He kept going back and forth between a "cop guy" and a "fire guy".  "Fire guy" won the battle, mainly because we could not find him a "cop guy" outfit.  He was such a cute "fire guy"!!!  And SO proud, he was!!!  We have a UHP Sgt. in our ward who came dressed as a fire fighter.  First, he noticed Hunter, walked up to him, held his hands out for knuckles and told Hunter he was a cute little fire fighter.  Oh, Hunter was so excited about that.  Throughout the night, any time Sgt. Carlisle would walk past Hunter, or Hunter would walk past him, Carlisle would hold his hand out for knuckles.  It was the cutest thing.  At one point, Hunter stopped and had to tell him ALL about his hatchet, handheld fire extinguisher, and pry bar.  Carlisle was such a good sport about it, and told Hunter he was "set to go put out a fire" and that "he felt so much safer knowing you are prepared to fight that fire".   I'm still beating myself in the head for not getting a picture of the two of them together while doing their little thing.

My little Paizlei went dressed as a ladybug.  I thought it fit her perfectly!  Ever since she was born, I have called her "Ladybug"!  She was such an adorable little ladybug!  Everyone commented on her little antlers or feelers or whatever you call them, because they were always in her eyes.  She wasn't too sure about the whole game thing or trick-or-treat thing.  She LOVED being in her costume and being the center of attention.

This is how the little antlers or feelers or whatever were...always in her face.

While we were waiting for the trick-or-treating to start, my friend Kerah, who was sitting next to us, went outside to get her treats and Hunter started flirting with her little Gracie!  He was so cute with her, wanting to share everything with her.  He got out of the chair he was sitting in, and told Gracie she could sit in it.  There was a point when I thought for sure he was going to kiss her, he was that close to her face.  I told Kerah about it, she laughed!  Kids are so funny!

I used to hate Halloween...until I had my own kids!  Seeing the look of pure excitement on their faces as they see what their friends are for Halloween, watching them go trick-or-treat, has totally changed my hatred about Halloween.  I LOVE it!!!  I think it is one of my most favorite holiday's!!!  It is definitely a kids holiday!

There was so much going on around them, I couldn't get them to cooperate for pictures.
These two pictures are the best I could get.
