Him and His Glasses

Last week, we took Hunter to the eye doctor...AGAIN!  This time we came a little more prepared than the first.  Hunter is already a rambunctious little boy, but try getting him to sit and do an eye exam when, #1 he is tired, #2 he is scared to death of the machines they use, and #3 a strange place, with LOTS of distractions.  The first appointment was a mess.

When I say, "we came a little more prepared", our awesome primary doctor gave us a prescription for Versed (or Midazolam solution) to help relax him a little so we could get the eye exam done. We had no choice but to get this relaxant for Hunter, as we knew he had eye problems and we HAD to get this eye appointment done.  We've known since he was about 6 months old, his left eye is a bit lazy, usually when he is really tired.  When we took him up the first time, THAT doctor (the one with absolutely NO patience for little kids) told us he was near-sighted.  After this appointment, the NEW doctor (the one with OODLES of patience for little kids) determined Hunter is actually far-sighted and +2 optics.  Not quite sure what that means, he explained it to me, but it was all WAY over my head to really understand what it.

While the doctor was letting the drops finish dilating Hunter's eyes, we started looking for glasses.  We found these ADORABLE oval shaped frames that are brown in color.  He. Looked. Adorable.  It was a little difficult when we were looking at the frames, trying to figure out which ones looked the best on Hunter, as the medication made him so relaxed, the poor kid couldn't sit, stand, crawl, walk, hold his head up...his speech is already really slurred, but it was even worse with the medication.  I had to sit Hunter on Zane's lap and have Zane hold Hunter's head up so I could try on the glasses and find the right ones.  It was so cute, when I put the frames on I mentioned earlier, Hunter got a BIG grin on his face and said,"I like this one, Mommy!", a little slurred, but I could understand him.

Here is my handsome Hunter with his new ADORABLE glasses.

Isn't he ADORABLE in glasses?  The BEST part...he has kept them on all day today (they were delivered late last night)  I am pleasantly surprised that he has been so good with them.  When I put them on him this morning, I told him, "only Mommy, Daddy and your teacher touch your glasses.  YOU don't touch your glasses.".  He got it!  It was so cute when I put them on him this morning, he looked and Zane and I, got a BIG grin on his face, and said, "I see every stuff now, Mommy!"  It was so adorable!!!
