The Dress

A couple months ago, as I was browsing one of the blogs I follow, I came across the most adorable dress for little girls. After seeing it, I HAD to have one for Paizlei. So, the search was on to find the pattern. It is an Izzy & Ivy pattern. After searching the internet for places that carry Izzy & Ivy patterns, I found their blog...they are from Utah...Salem, Utah! Anyway, all the websites I went to, you have to order the pattern in bulk. I didn't want 12 patterns, so I kind of gave up on the idea of making the dress, a little bummed too, because it was such a cute dress. On a hunch, I decided to send the link to my mother-in-law...mainly just to show her how super cute the dress was. The same day I took Paizlei up to Primary's, my MIL had a sewing class at the Bernina store in Provo. She called me and told me she found the pattern. Bless her heart, she bought the pattern. YAY!!!!

I had a little trouble trying to figure out a couple of things while I was making the dress, but I did it! It's missing the tie because I couldn't find material down here that would look good with the color of the dress.  I am kind of thinking pink or white?  And, the bottom of it is different than the pattern, because the material has a scalloped edge that I really liked and didn't want to cut it off.  My first "real" sewing experience...minus the sewing classes in high school...I am excited to find other adorable patterns and things I can make for my kids!

The final result!

The top of the dress is shirred.  SUPER EASY!!!

I know, the look on her face is kind of funny...she was really wanting the headband off.  Doesn't she look SUPER CUTE in her dress?
