My Talented Husband

Never in a million years when I met Zane, did I think he could build things without instructions.  The last couple weeks he has totally amazed me in what he can build when he puts his mind to it.

I've been in this organization frenzy the last couple of months and have been looking at those cubbie shelving units where you can put baskets and such in.  I think standard size, they come in 3 squares x 3 squares.  Zane started building one for the playroom/family room...once he got to the 3x3 size, he decided he didn't like how it looked, so he went 4x4.  He started and finished his project in less than a few hours, then painted it, all in one day.

This past weekend, he decided he wanted to make Paizlei a "dolly house" for her to have to play with all of her dollies.  She LOVES it!  Again, he started and finished building the doll house and painted it all in the same day.

When we were cleaning the playroom/family room the other day, I decided that the baskets we bought for the shelving unit would fit in the cubbies/rooms in the doll house.  In a last ditch effort to minimize the "mess", I decided to put the shelving unit in Hunter's room, take all of his toys and put back in his room.  The doll house we would do the same thing, except in Paizlei's room.  So far, the family room seems to be kept a lot cleaner.  I told the kids, their baskets stay in their own rooms, their toys stay in their own rooms and when they are done playing with one toy, they need to put it away.  So far, the organizing and putting the kids toys in their own bedrooms has helped eliminate A LOT of the "mess" in the family room.

The cubbie/shelving unit.  We are in maybe $20 in the wood alone.  You can't even buy these for that price!  He made it with rough-cut wood from Satter-White Log.

Paizlei's "dolly house"!  We are in less than $20 in the wood alone on this one.  This one is made from plywood.

Seriously, Zane is AMAZINGLY talented!!!
