Huge Scare - Pregnancy Update - 25 Weeks

This pregnancy has been going by so smoothly, that I keep getting these unsettling feelings that something is going to happen.  On Wednesday, I woke up not feeling the greatest; my back hurt, I had an achy, heavy feeling in my tummy and I was more tired than normal and I was contracting (something I've been doing now for 10 weeks).  I had a small nap that morning hoping it would make me feel a little better.  I went about my day.  Around 4:30, I started spotting.  I called my doctor in a panic.  He was with a patient, so I had to wait for her to talk to the doctor and call me back.  About 10 minutes later she called.  Because he was seeing his last patient for the day, he sent me over to the hospital for some labs and a non-stress test (NST).  I was hooked up to the fetal monitor for about 45 minutes when he came in.  He informed me I had a UTI, which is probably what was causing the spotting.  He continued watching Baby "C" on the fetal monitor and gave me a liter of fluids and some IV antibiotics to jump start getting rid of the infection.  He also wrote me a RX for some oral antibiotics and told me to take it easy the next couple of days.

Baby "C" looked really good on the fetal monitoring strip, with a strong heartbeat fluctuating between the 140's & 150's.  I was having contractions about every 15-20 minutes, but they were only in the 60's and didn't last for even 30 seconds.  There were a few that were pretty strong.  If they continue, he will put me on progesterone shots.

I am a little nervous with this pregnancy after my pregnancy with Paizlei.  If I know something is wrong, I don't hesitate to call my doctor.  One of the MANY things I learned while I was pregnant with Paizlei, you can never be too safe.  Having a baby at 33 weeks is one thing...she was in the 50% for her gestational age...but having one at 24 weeks and 5/7th's, I'm sure we would be in for quite a roller coaster.

My back is still a little achy and I am still a little tired, but I feel much better today than I did on Wednesday.

So glad everything turned out okay! That's so scary. We're praying for you that you go full term with a healthy child.
