Yesterday, August 30, was Hunter's first day of preschool for the 2010-2011 school year. After we went to the open house for the new elementary school, Hunter has been asking me daily, when he gets to go to school in his new school. Because we moved and because I needed to talk to his teacher about a few things, I took him to school. Normally, he would ride the school bus.
Right now, he is only going Monday and Tuesday mornings, but that could change after September 22nd when we meet with the child psychologist with the Children with Special Needs Health Clinic. Even though he received an "education classification" of Autism, the scores he received on the ADOS should get him into the 4 day school week. We are going to take those findings down to the CSNHC next month to have him evaluate them and get a medical diagnosis. I normally wouldn't be fighting so hard for something as trivial as preschool, but because the child psychologist and the pediatrician with the CSNHC both recommended Hunter go 4 days a week, I feel it is necessary to fight for the 4 day school week.
Anyway, Hunter had a really fun first day of preschool! He wouldn't stop talking about it all day yesterday!!!
