GVES

Looking to the north-west.

Last night, we had the opportunity to go see the new Gunnison Valley Elementary School, and see Hunter's new classroom!  It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!  The architecture of the school is amazing.  I LOVE how they have the classes set up. The school faces east and the halls run north and south.  They start with the preschool on the north end and go all the way to the 5th grade on the south end, with 2 computer labs with brand new Apple computers in each lab, a beautiful lunchroom/multi-purpose room, activity room, 2 speech labs, a resource classroom library and the administrative offices.  It is truly a work of art!!!

We had the opportunity to go and see Hunter's "Teetoh" and his AMAZINGLY HUGE classroom!  As you can see in the pictures below, he made himself right at home in his classroom.  We also got a couple pictures of him with his teacher, Mrs. Mellor.  We also had the opportunity to see the Speech room, where Hunter will spend 45 minutes each day.  The great thing I love about his Speech teachers, one I went to school with, her dad used to be the Superintendent of South Sanpete School District, and Zane's Aunt Mary.  Hunter LOVES LOVES LOVES going to see "Aunt May-yee" in school!!!

I told you, he made himself right at home in his classroom!

Hunter and Mrs. Mellor

Looking in from the classroom door, there's a lot you can't see.  Where Hunter's great-grandpa is in the back, that is the outside entrance, where the little locker-like area and bathrooms are.

Play area, "circle-time" area (each square on the rug will have a shape or toy taped to it and a child's name associated with that shape or toy and when they have "circle-time" or singing time, that's where they sit).

Don't you LOVE that?...they have a PRETEND AREA!!!!

I LOVE the set-up of his classroom!  Preschool and kindergarten share restrooms...they are the ONLY classes that have their own restrooms.  They have their own fenced in playground.  As you walk in from the outside, they have their own little locker-like-area's where they can hang up their coats/jackets and backpacks.

The new Gunnison Valley Elementary School is truly a work of art...it's beautiful!!!  Over 58,000 square feet...HUGE!  Each grade level, except preschool, has 4 classes.  That is HUGE for this area since GVES serves 5 towns!!!
