It was a year ago on December 11th, when I started to get really sick with pre-eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome while I was pregnant with Paizlei. It was a year ago today, December 13th, that I went in the hospital and stayed until our little miracle was born. On December 11th, I went in to the ER because I had a horrible headache that I couldn't get rid of. It was worse than a migraine (yes, it is possible to have a headache worse than a migraine). They took my vitals, my blood pressure was 156/106. VERY HIGH, to say the least. AND I was spilling protein. Dr Judy decided it was necessary to keep me overnight to observe me because of the blood pressure. He also felt it would be best at that time to give me the shots of surfactant steroid to help develop Paizlei's lungs. Dr Judy came in Sunday morning and gave me strict instructions to bed rest and told me if I get the horrible pressure headache again to come in. To home we went and to bed I went. Midnight Sunday night, Monday morning rolled around and my head felt like it was going to explode. My eyes felt like they were going to pop out of my head, the my hair follicles hurt like no other, everything on my face hurt. When Zane woke up and was getting ready for work at 6, I told him I needed to go back to the hospital. He called his work and took me to the hospital. My BP was 161/116. I was immediately put in the hospital and put on blood pressure medication that, was of course safe to take while being pregnant. And, I was still spilling high levels of protein in my urine. At this point, Dr. Judy said I was in HELLP Syndrome.
That night at 7:50, my awesome doctor, Dr Judy ordered another ultrasound to make sure everything was okay with our baby. Once the Ultrasound technician was done, he asked Zane and I if we wanted to see something really cool, I said "okay". He changed the heads on the ultrasound machine and put more goop on my belly and this is what came on the screen.

It is a 3-D ultrasound of Paizlei. I had NO IDEA they could do these at Gunnison Valley Hospital. We didn't get one of Hunter because we didn't have $200 to do it. This one was paid for by our insurance. SWEET!!!!!!!! It truly is an amazing picture of her. After I had Paizlei, I took the picture in the NICU and put it next to her face and I was SOOOOOOO amazed that technology can take a picture of a baby in the womb and have it so exact. If you look really close, by her bottom lip, on the right, you can see her little tiny thumb. She had her hand right up to her face, her FAVORITE place for her hands.
