Zane Graduated From POST!
December 11, 2008 is a day Zane and I will never forget, for A LOT of reasons. One of the main reasons, his graduations from the Peace Officers Standards and Training. When Zane got hired on with the Sanpete County Sheriff's Office, one of the stipulations was, he had to attend and pass POST. The good...no, the GREAT thing was, Sanpete County paid his wages from the day he started POST, they gave him a taxable uniform allowance, and he got his AMAZING health benefits.
POST was held at SLCC in Sandy. Zane left Hunter and I on Sunday afternoon and came home late Thursday night, every week for 10 weeks and then did 4 weeks of firearms training down here in Gunnison at CUCF. Although it was a VERY rough 10 weeks for Hunter and I, we made it, barely, and I mean, barely (tomorrow's post will go into more detail on that).
Zane got to experience some fun (I'm sure he wouldn't call them fun) things. From running 1.5 miles up to 9 miles, to running a obstacle course where part of the course was being sprayed in the face with pepper spray and having to continue on with the obstacle course. And last, but certainly not least, the wonderful experience of the taser (although Zane opted out of the taser experience).

Don't you just love a guy in a uniform? I do!!!

Zane's step-dad, Burke was honored to be able to present Zane with his diploma as Burke is also a graduate of POST and works at CUCF. (Zane is in the white dress shirt on the far left of the screen)

Zane shaking Burke's hand after receiving his diploma! (The on the very right on the screen is Sanpete County Sheriff Kevin Holman, who actually spoke at the graduation. Kind of cool!)

A large majority of Zane's graduating class. 240 Guts & Glory! (That was their class # and motto.) Zane is the short guy kind of in the middle but to the left a little bit (I know that sounds funny.)

Another picture of his class taking the oath. You can see him a little better in this picture.
