In today's world, most homes have some sort of cable TV or satellite. After several weeks of contemplating on whether or not to renew our DirecTV contract (which BTW, I LOVED!!!!), Zane and I determined we would be money ahead if we didn't renew it, and I couldn't justify paying $80/month for satellite when we only watched it about 3 hours during the day now that summer is FINALLY here...it didn't seem like a really good deal to me. Although I was a little hesitant at first, mainly because the Disney channel is a great babysitter for my kids when I shower and get ready in the morning. However, we ended up not renewing our contract.
When we didn't renew our contract, we re-signed up with Net-Flix...LOVE IT! With them, Zane is able to watch the couple of shows that he is really into. I can handle the $7.95/month for Net-Flix so much easier. It seems like we definitely get our money's worth each month...actually more than our money's worth. And, there is also hulu.com.
We've been without satellite for a couple of weeks, and I can honestly say, not having TV is so much nicer! We don't have as much tension in our home. I have to be creative with my kids on things to keep them busy. If they want to watch "TV", I slip in a Disney movie and the kids are perfectly fine. Unlike the winter, when I get so bored and end up sitting on the couch, watching a TV show, I am up and moving. I'm doing something crafty with Hunter and Paizlei, reading to them, cleaning.
If anyone is thinking about getting rid of your cable or satellite, I would recommend it hands down. It's been one of the best decisions Zane and I have made. In a few short months, when the colder season is here, we will see if I still feel the same way.

we are BIG fans of netflix and hulu.com. We have not had cable service for about 7 years and don't miss it one bit. Everything I need is on hulu and netflix is soooooo worth the money.
I have heard this so many times. I just can't imagine. I know my life would be better without it, but I'm an addict!!
